Not every visit has to be a haircut. Plenty of dogs just need their nails done, or their ears seen to, and older dogs often cannot manage a long session anyway. These are quick, calm appointments at your door.

Nail grinding is worth knowing about if your dog hates the clippers: a dremel smooths and rounds the nail and can take it back closer to the quick than clippers manage, with no sharp edges left to catch on anything.
